How to Open the Control Panel From the Command Prompt in Windows 7
1. Click the 'Start' button, type 'cmd' (without quotes) and press 'Enter' to launch the Command Prompt.
2. Type 'control' in the Command Prompt window and press 'Enter' to launch the main Control Panel screen.
3. Type 'control' plus the specific component and press 'Enter' to launch only that component. As an example, you would type 'control appwiz.cpl' to launch Add/Remove Programs. Some other common components are 'access.cpl' for Accessibility Options,' 'timedate.cpl' for Date/Time Properties, 'inetcpl.cpl' for Internet Properties, and 'sysdm.cpl' for System Properties.
