Reinstalling Windows 7

Advanced Recovery Method
1. Click the 'Start' button and then click 'Control Panel.'
2. Type 'Recovery' in the search box at the top right of the screen.
3. Click 'Restore Your Computer or Reinstall Windows.'
4. Click 'Advanced Recovery Methods.'
5. Select either 'Use a system image you created earlier to recover your computer' or 'Reinstall Windows.' If you did not create a backup image, you will need to reinstall using the Windows 7 installation disc. Selecting an option will take you to the next page to back up your files.
6. Select 'Back Up Now' to back up your files, as reinstalling the operating system will remove personal files.
7. Follow the prompts to complete the reinstall. If you choose to restore from a system image, you will be prompted to select from a list of backups. If you choose to reinstall Windows, you will be prompted to insert your Windows 7 installation disc to continue.
Reinstalling Through the Boot Menu
8. Turn on your computer, and insert the Windows 7 disc.
9. Press the appropriate 'F' key as the computer is booting to enter setup. The key will be listed usually at the top or bottom of the screen before the Windows loading screen. It is often 'F8' or 'F10.'
10. Select to boot from 'CD/DVD.' You will then be prompted to press any key to continue.
11. Select 'Install Windows' when prompted. Select 'Custom' when asked which type of installation you want.
12. Choose the partition you wish to install Windows 7 on. Click 'Next.' Follow the setup instructions. The computer will restart once the installation is finished.
