How to Make Windows 7 Desktop Icons Smaller Without a Mouse

1. Press the 'Windows' key (the key with the windows icon on it) to open the 'Start' menu.
2. Type 'regedit' into the search field of the 'Start' menu, and press 'Enter' to open the Windows Registry editor. If your cursor isn't in the 'Search' field already, navigate through the 'Start' menu using the up- and down-arrow keys on your keyboard.
3. Press the down-arrow key on your keyboard to select the 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER' registry folder.
4. Press the right-arrow key to expand the folder.
5. Using the right-arrow key as described previously, expand the 'Control Panel' folder, which is in the folder you just expanded, then expand the 'Desktop' registry folder. Select 'WindowMetrics' using the 'Enter' key.
6. Press the 'Tab' key to move your cursor from the left side of the window to the right side. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the 'Shell Icon Size' registry key.
7. Press the 'Enter' key. The number you type in the new window that pops up will set the Windows icon sizes. The lower the number, the smaller the icons. Press 'Enter' again to save the new value. You will need to restart your computer for the change to take effect.
