How to Repair a Remote Desktop


Ensure Connections for All Allowed
1. Right-click 'Computer' and select 'Properties.'
2. Choose the 'Remote Settings' option.
3. Make sure that 'Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop' is selected.
Ensure Remote Desktop is Not Blocked by Firewall
4. Click the 'Start' button and choose the 'Control Panel' option.
5. Choose the 'Allow a Program or Feature Through Windows Firewall' option.
6. Click 'Change Settings' and scroll through the list that appears until you find 'Remote Desktop.' If the box next to it is not checked, check the box.
Ensure Remote Desktop Services are Enabled
7. Click 'Start' and choose the 'Computer Management' option. Under 'Services and Applications,' choose 'Services.'
8. Scroll through the list that appears and look for 'Remote Desktop Configuration,' 'Remote Desktop Services' and 'Remote Desktop Services User Mode.'
9. Select each of the three services and see whether they are listed as 'Started.' If they are not, choose the 'Start the Service' option.
