How to Create an HTML Page as Your Desktop Wallpaper

For Windows XP or Earlier
1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop, and when the pop-up menu appears, select \'Desktop Settings.\'
2. Click on the \'Background\' tab.
3. Click \'Browse.\'
4. In the \'Browse\' dialogue box, set it to \'htm\' or \'html\' instead of \'All Image Files.\'
5. You can now enter in a URL to set your background to a live web page. Or, you can simply browse to an HTML file on your hard drive that you would like to set as your background.
For Windows Vista
6. Unfortunately, Microsoft discontinued the active desktop function when Windows Vista came out, so both Windows Vista and Windows 7 lack this option. If you want to make an HTML page your desktop you will have to download the program AveDesktopSites, which is a freeware alternative to active desktop. It can be found at brothersoft.com.
7. Install and open AveDesktopSites.
8. Open the AveDesktopSites options dialogue box by clicking on the light bulb icon in your quick launch toolbar.
9. Near the top of the window, click on the plus sign button.
10. In the URL box, type in the URL of the website that you want to have as your background. If you want to choose an html file on your computer, type in the command line for that file. For example: \'C:\\Users\\Owner\\Documents\\mypage.html.\'
11. Adjust the size and positioning of your background page using the settings in the AveDesktopSites dialogue box.
