How to Resize Partition in Windows 7


Shrink a Disk Partition
1. Click 'Start' and select 'Control Panel.'
2. Double-click the 'Administrative Tools' icon.
3. Double-click the 'Computer Management' icon.
4. Click 'Disk Management' below Storage on the left pane of the Computer Management window that opens.
5. Right-click the hard disk partition that you want to shrink. It will be below Volume on the right pane of Computer Management window. Click 'Shrink Volume.'
6. Type the size by which you want to shrink the selected partition in the 'Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB' box.
7. Click the 'Shrink' button. This will shrink the selected hard disk partition.
Extend a Disk Partition
8. Click 'Start' and select 'Control Panel.'
9. Double-click the 'Administrative Tools' icon.
10. Double-click the 'Computer Management' icon.
11. Click 'Disk Management' below Storage on the left pane of the Computer Management window.
12. Right-click the disk partition that you want to add to another partition and select 'Delete Volume.' For example, if you want to add D: drive to E: drive, right-click the D: drive and click 'Delete Volume.' All the files on the partition being deleted will be permanently deleted.
13. Right-click the hard disk partition that you want to extend. This will be below Volume on the right pane of Computer Management window. Click 'Extend Volume.'
14. Click 'Next' on the welcome screen of the Extend Volume Wizard dialog box that opens.
15. Select the disk partition that you want to add to another partition, click 'Add,' and then click 'Next.'
16. Click the 'Finish' button. This will extend the selected volume.
