How to Get Rid of Hidden Icons on Desktop Windows 7

Display Hidden Files
1. Click the Start button in the lower-left corner of your screen and select 'Control Panel.'
2. Click on 'Appearance and Personalization,' then click on 'Folder Options.' If you do not see 'Appearance and Personalization,' then you have your Control Panel set to 'Classic View,' and you just need to double-click on 'Folder Options.'
3. Click the 'View' tab.
4. Locate the setting labeled 'Hidden files and folders' in the 'Advanced settings' section of the window.
5. Select the option labeled 'Show hidden files and folders' below 'Hidden files and folders,' and then click 'OK.' If that option is already selected, just click 'OK.'
Delete Hidden Files
6. Go to your desktop. You can either minimize all the windows to get there, or you can press and hold the 'Windows' key, then press 'D,' and then release both.
7. Locate hidden files on your desktop. These files are transparent, so they're usually easy to identify. If you're not sure if a certain file is hidden, right-click it and select 'Properties'; if the file is hidden, there will be a check in the box beside 'Hidden' within the 'Attributes' section.
8. Right-click the hidden files you want to delete and select 'Delete,' or just select the file and press the 'Delete' key. After you finish getting rid of the hidden files, you may want to change the hidden files setting back in the 'Folder Options' window.
