How to Change Boot Names in Dual Boot


1. Start the computer using the operating system you wish to rename.
2. Open a command prompt. Click “Start” and type “cmd” in the area labeled “Start Search.” (Do not include quotation marks.) Click the “cmd” icon with the right mouse button. Click “Run as administrator” and “Continue.”
3. Type “bcdedit” in the command prompt box, and press Enter. (Do not include quotation marks.)
4. Type “bcdedit /set {current} Description _____” in the command prompt box. (Do not include quotation marks.) Instead of the blank, enter the new boot name that you want to appear in the menu.
5. Close the command prompt, and restart the computer.
