The Windows Vista Error Code 0X8007045d
Error Cause
I/O errors are caused by a problem reading from or writing to a device. This is usually an indication of damage to the device. On a hard drive, parts of the drive may be failing. On a CD or DVD, it may be related to physical scratches on the disk.
Basic Troubleshooting
For CD or DVD disks, begin by checking the disk for dirt or scratches. If possible, clean the disk. For internal drives, run Microsoft's disk check application to identify and repair disk problems. Running the disk check program (chkdsk) requires restarting your computer, so be sure to save your work.
Advanced Troubleshooting
If the problem continues after running chkdsk, it may be necessary to extend or reduce the size of the operating system disk partition. This is due to a flaw in the chkdsk operation that causes it not to work properly when the last segment of a disk has a problem. Partition modification should only be done by advanced computer users.
