How to Fix Error 080070052 on USB Flash Drives


1. Insert your flash drive into an available USB port on your computer.
2. Click the 'Start' button in Windows XP or the Windows logo button in Windows 7 and Vista. Click 'Run' in XP. In the 'Run' box in XP and in the 'Search files' box in Vista and 7, type 'devmgmt.msc' and press 'Enter' to open the Device Manager. Double-click 'Disk Drives' in the list to expand it. Right-click the name of your USB flash drive and click 'Properties.' Select the 'Policies' tab. Click 'Optimize for performance.' Click 'OK.' Close the Device Manager window.
3. Click the 'Start' button or Windows logo button. Click 'Computer' or 'My Computer.'
4. Double-click the drive letter of your USB flash drive to open it.
5. Click on all the files you want to save to highlight and select them. Hold the 'Ctrl' button while you click to select multiple files. Right-click the selected files and click 'Copy.' Click the 'Minimize' button in the top right corner of 'My Computer' or 'Computer.'
6. Right-click anywhere on the desktop background and click 'Folder' from the 'New' menu. Enter a name for the folder to which you're going to save the files from your flash drive; press 'Enter.' Double-click the folder to open it. Right-click anywhere in the folder and click 'Paste' to paste the files from your flash drive to the folder. Close the folder window.
7. Click the 'My Computer' or 'Computer' icon in the Taskbar at the bottom of the screen to restore it and make it an active window. Click 'My Computer' or 'Computer' in the left column.
8. Right-click your USB flash drive in the 'Devices with Removable Storage' section. Click 'Format.' In the 'File System' drop-down menu, click 'FAT32' or 'NTFS.' Click 'Start' to automatically run and complete the formatting process.
9. Locate the saved folder on your desktop that contains the files you saved from your flash drive. Click the folder and drag it over top of your flash drive icon in the 'My Computer' or 'Computer' window.
