How to Reinstall Gpedit.Msc


1. Download a copy of the gpedit.msc ZIP file to your computer (see Resources). This file contains a fresh copy of the gpedit.msc control file and all associated data files.
2. Open the gpedit.msc ZIP file in Windows Explorer. Copy the appmgmts.dll, appmgr.dll, fde.dll, fdeploy.dll, gpedit.msc, gpedit.dll and gptext.dll files to the c:\windows\system32 folder.
3. Copy the system.adm, inetres.adm and conf.adm files to the c:\windows\system32\grouppolicy\adm folder.
4. Click 'Start,' and click 'Run.' This will open a run command box. Enter the following five commands in the run command box:regsvr32 appmgr.dllregsvr32 fde.dllregsvr32 fdeploy.dllregsvr32 gpedit.dllregsvr32 gptext.dllDoing so will register the new copy of your gpedit.msc files in the Windows System Registry.
5. Open the gpedit console by typing 'gpedit.msc' in the run command box, and press 'Enter.' This will open the gpedit console.
