How to Troubleshoot PC Server Error Messages


1. Make sure your Internet connection is working. If your Internet is down, you will receive server errors. Check your modem to find out if the lights are blinking. If the lights are not blinking, chances are your Internet is down. Call your Internet service provider immediately to report the problem.
2. Try browsing other websites. It is possible that the particular webpage or website you are trying to open is temporarily down. You will receive server errors in such cases. Wait patiently till the website is back up.
3. Change settings in Internet Explorer. Click on 'Tools' and select 'Internet Options.' Hit 'Advanced.' Locate the sub-heading 'Browsing.' Click to remove the check mark next to 'Show friendly HTTP error messages.' Hit 'Apply' and select 'OK.'
4. Make sure your Internet connection settings are configured correctly. Incorrect network passwords will lead to server errors. Click on 'Tools' and select 'Internet Options.' Click on the 'Connections' tab. Click on 'LAN settings.' Check your 'Proxy server' address if you use one. If you do not, click to place a check mark next to 'Automatically detect settings.' Automatic detection is used to troubleshoot server errors in Internet Explorer.
