How to Kill a System Backup in Windows XP

1. Press the 'Ctrl,' 'Alt,' and 'Delete' keys on the keyboard at the same time. The 'Task Manager' window will appear.
2. Click the 'Applications' tab. Click the 'Backup Utility' item in the list of programs and click the 'End Task' button. If a window appears and displays a notification that the 'Program is not responding,' click the 'End Now' button.
3. Click the 'Processes' tab if the backup program fails to shut down. Right-click the 'ntbackup.exe' process and click 'End Process' in the menu that appears.
