How to Install Windows XP in MS DOS
1. Insert the Windows XP Installation CD into your CD-ROM drive and restart the computer.
2. Choose to boot the computer from the MS-DOS prompt with CD support, when presented with a menu.
3. Type 'smrtdrv' into the DOS prompt and press enter.
4. Type 'cd i386' to navigate to where the Windows XP setup program is.
5. Type 'winnt' into the command prompt. This copies some Windows XP files to your computer.
6. Press 'Enter' to reboot when prompted. The installation program then checks your hard drive for Windows XP compatibility. It is extremely unlikely your hard drive is incompatible, but if it is, the installer instructs you how to format the drive properly.
7. Press 'Enter' again to reboot when prompted. The computer restarts into the Windows XP setup program, detects your hardware settings and completes the Windows installation.
