How to Install a New Operating System for Windows XP

1. Insert the Windows XP Installation CD into the CD-ROM drive and restart the computer.
2. Enter the computer's BIOS as the computer restarts. You will probably press 'F10,' although the correct key will vary depending on the system. The computer will display what key you need to press. Navigate through the BIOS to the boot device priority. Change the first boot device to the CD-ROM drive, save and exit. The computer will restart.
3. Press any key to boot from the CD.
4. Press 'Enter' to start the setup, and press 'F8' to accept the user agreement.
5. Press 'Enter' to set up Windows XP. If the hard drive already has a partition on it, you can delete it by pressing 'D,' then 'L' and then 'Enter' to set up Windows XP.
6. Select 'NTFS filesystem (not quick).' Windows will begin to copy the operating system files to the hard drive. Windows will continue the installation by itself. Follow the prompts to select the language and admin username and password. You may also be prompted to set up the time and date, as well as the computer name. When the installation completes, the computer will restart and bring you to a welcome screen for Windows XP.
