How to Force a Remote Reboot in Windows XP
1. Click 'Start' and 'Control Panel.' Click 'Performance and Maintenance,' 'Administrative Tools' and 'Computer Management.'
2. Right-click 'Computer Management (Local)' on the left side, then select 'Connect to another computer.' In the Select Computer field, select 'Another computer,' type the name of the computer you want to reboot and click 'OK.'
3. Right-click 'Computer Management (Remote computer name)' in the tree on the left side and click 'Properties.' Click the 'Advanced' tab and click 'Startup and Recovery.'
4. Click 'Shutdown' and the Shutdown dialog box will open. Under Action, select 'Restart.' Under 'Force Apps Closed,' select 'Never,' 'If hung (Windows 2000 or later only)' or 'Always (could lose date)' and click 'OK.'
