How to Find What Windows Installer You Have in Your Computer

1. Open the Start menu. Click the empty search field at the bottom of the menu in Windows 7 and Windows Vista, or click 'Run' in Windows XP.
2. Type 'CMD' and press 'Enter' to open the Command Prompt.
3. Type 'MSIEXEC' and press 'Enter.' Windows launches the Windows Installer utility. The top line of the window displays the version number, such as 'V 5.0.7600.16385' for a computer running Windows 7.
