How to Convert Linux OS to Windows XP

1. Boot your computer as usual and insert your blank CD or DVD into the computer. Copy all your important files onto the CD. These should be able to be read by Windows XP, because CDs and DVDs use a uniform file system that is supported by most Linux distributions as well as by Windows XP. Use as many CDs or DVDs as you need to fit all the files.
2. Reboot your computer and insert the Windows XP disk.
3. Press a key on the keyboard when you are prompted to 'Press any key to boot from CD.'
4. Press 'Enter' when asked if you want to install 'Windows XP' from the disk.
5. Press 'F8' to agree to the user license for 'Windows XP.'
6. Delete the previous partition that was created by 'Linux' by pressing 'D' and create a new partition under 'Windows XP' by pressing 'C.'
7. Select the new partition that you created (It should be highlighted already. If it is not, use the arrow buttons to highlight it) as the place to install Windows XP and press 'Enter.' You will be told that the partition is not formatted and offered four choices. Select 'Format the partition using the NTFS file system.' Press 'Enter.'
8. Leave the Windows XP disk in the computer when 'Windows Setup' reboots the computer.
9. Select a region and language by clicking the 'Customize' button. Note: 'Windows setup' will automatically set these for you based on where your 'Windows XP' disk is from. If you are happy with the settings, just click 'Next.'
10. Enter your name when prompted for it and then enter the product key from the 'certificate of authenticity' when asked for it.
11. Choose a unique name for the computer (note that Windows XP will choose one for you based on your name. You can leave this in place if you prefer)
12. Select the correct date and time from the 'Date and Time' box. When prompted for 'Network Configuration,' simply choose 'Typical' and then click 'Next.'
13. Click 'Next' when prompted with the 'Welcome to Windows XP' screen.
14. Select 'Help protect my PC by turning on automatic updates now' from the 'Help Protect Your PC' screen, so that you can get important updates from Microsoft. Click 'Next.'
15. Follow the next prompts by entering the required information and then clicking 'Next.' (Hint: You can usually leave these because they deal with things like workgroup names, which are not relevant for many people).
16. Copy your files to the 'My Documents' directory from the CD(s) or DVD(s) you created earlier once Windows XP has finished installing.
