Java Install Errors on Windows XP
Error Codes 1305, 1311, 1324
Whenever you try installing Java, you may run into error codes 1305, 1311, 1324 which are usually caused by errors with InstallShield. InstallShield is an application designed to create installers and software and when it runs into errors, the Java installation wizard will display these error codes. These error codes can mostly been seen in versions 1.4.2_xx, 1.5.0, 6.0 and affects mainly Internet Explorer 5.5, Internet Explorer 6.x, Internet Explorer 7.x, Mozilla 1.4+.
Error Codes 2755, 624
Error codes 2755 and 624 occur when there are network issues during the installing of Java. They occur when the network is maybe congested or erratic and as a result prevents the installation wizard from communicating with the Java server on the Internet. You will also see these installation errors if there is a spyware removal tool (e.g. teatimer.exe) installed on your computer that is preventing the installation of your program.
Error Code 25099
The error code 25099 usually occurs when the Java QuickStarter (jps.exe) process is running. Java QuickStarter is a program that improves initial startup time for most Java applets and applications. It usually remains on your computer if you had improperly uninstalled an older version of Java. As a result it leaves entries in the registry and the startup menu which consistently run each time you turn on the computer. As long as this process is running, it will continue to interfere with the Java setup and installation files.
Error 1500
The error code 1500 usually occurs when the Java installation wizard detects another program installation that is currently in progress. This error usually occurs when 2 MSI based installers are running at the same time and the result is conflict of interest between the two programs being installed. While this error does not appear as often as some of the others, it can be annoying especially when installing a new Java update.
Solution
Restart your computer to reset network and driver settings on your computer. Before installing or upgrading Java, make sure that your network connection status is working optimally. Terminate the jps.exe (JavaQuick Starter) process from the Task Manager and properly uninstall any other versions of Java that are on your computer from the Control Panel. Try the offline installation (see Resources) if you are still running into installation errors. The offline installation method involves manually installing the program on your computer.
