How to Switch From Symbian to Windows Mobile
1. Remove the protective cover from the back of your phone and take out the battery. Insert the SIM card until you hear a snap, and put the battery back in. Place the protective cover back on.
2. Back up all the information on your phone with your SIM card. Save important data such as emails, text messages, contacts, videos, pictures and songs. Once you install the Windows Mobile 6.0 OS, it wipes out all of your phone's internal memory, including the data created in the Symbian OS.
3. Download and install Windows Mobile 6.0 from the Microsoft website (see Resources).
4. Attach one end of the data cable to your cell phone. Attach the other end to your desktop computer or laptop's USB port. Wait for your cell phone's sync software to launch on the computer.
5. Select the Windows Mobile 6.0 software. Click 'Synchronize' or the button on your phone that performs that function. During this time, your sync software will uninstall the Symbian OS and install the Windows Mobile 6.0 OS.
6. Disconnect the data cable from your phone and computer when prompted. Restart your cell phone to complete the installation process. It should boot up using the Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system.
