How to Search Windows Registry for Serial Numbers

1. Click “Start” and then click “Run.”
2. Type “regedit” in the run dialog box and then click “OK.”
3. Click on “My Computer” in the left pane on the Registry editor window. This step selects the starting point for the search to begin.
4. Click on the “Edit” menu and then click “Find.”
5. Type the serial number that you want to find in the “Find what” box.
6. Click to select the “Keys,” “Values” and “Data” check boxes, and then click “Find Next.” You will be shown the first search result. If the search result does not match what you were looking for, then click “Find Next” again. Repeat this process until you have either found a match or reached the end of the Registry.
