How to Restore Windows 98 Registry With No Startup Disk

1. Boot your computer into safe mode. Hold down 'Ctrl' as your system is restarting. When a menu appears, select 'Safe Mode Command Prompt Only.'

3. Type 'cd\'. This brings you to the root directory on your computer.
4. Type 'scanreg /restore' and hit 'Enter'. A list of available registry restore points are listed.
5. Select which restore point you wish to use. Press 'enter' to restore the registry. You will receive a message that you have completed successful restoration of your Windows 98 registry.
6. Restart the computer for your changes to take affect. Your registry has been updated and should be working properly once the computer is restarted.
