How to Install Another Operating System on My Windows Computer


Create a Boot Partition
1. Click 'Start' on the taskbar, then click 'Control Panel.'
2. Double-click 'Administrative Tools,' then double-click 'Computer Management.'
3. Click 'Disk Management' under the 'Storage' heading.
4. Right-click on an unallocated region on the hard drive, then select 'New Simple Volume.'
5. Click 'Next' in the 'New Simple Volume' wizard. Click 'Next' to accept the default size offered for the new volume, or enter the volume size you want, then click 'Next.'
6. Click 'Next' to accept the default drive letter, or choose your own drive letter, then click 'Next.'
7. Select whether or not to format the new volume, then click 'Next.'
8. Click 'Finish.'
Dual Boot
9. Boot your computer up to the desktop with the initial version of Windows.
10. Insert the installation disk into the CD-ROM drive or the DVD-ROM drive for the newer version of Windows that you wish to install as a dual boot.
11. Click 'Install Now' on the 'Install Windows' menu.
12. Enter your activation code for the second version of Windows when prompted to input your product key for the second version of Windows.
13. Read the license agreement, then click 'I accept the license terms' to continue.
14. Click 'Custom' on the 'Which type of installation do you want?' page.
15. Select the boot partition created for the second operating system installation on the 'Where do you want to install Windows?' page.
16. Click 'Next' to launch the installation.
