How to Delete a Windows Event Log


Windows 7 or Windows Vista
1. Click the Windows 'Start' button and select 'Control Panel.'
2. Select 'System and Maintenance,' followed by 'Administrative Tools' and 'Event Viewer.'
3. Look to the left side of the window and then double-click the folder containing the particular event log you want to remove (e.g., 'Windows Logs,' 'Applications and Services Logs').
4. Click the name of the event log you want to delete (e.g., 'Security' or 'Setup').
5. Click 'Action' in the top menu bar of the Event Viewer window, select 'Clear Log' and then click 'Clear' when prompted to save the log before it is deleted.
Windows XP
6. Click the Windows 'Start' button and select 'Control Panel.'
7. Select 'Performance and Maintenance,' followed by 'Administrative Tools,' 'Computer Management' and 'Event Viewer.'
8. Click the name of the event log you want to delete (e.g., 'Application' or 'Security').
9. Click 'Action' in the top menu bar of the Event Viewer window, select 'Clear All Events' and then click 'No' when prompted to save the log before it is deleted.
