How to Check for Missing System Files in Windows XP


1. Log in to Windows XP as an administrator and click the 'Start' menu.
2. Click on the 'Run' option, type 'cmd' into the Run window and press the 'Enter' key.
3. Type 'sfc /scannow' into the Command Prompt window.
4. Press the 'Enter' key, insert the Windows XP CD when prompted and click the 'OK' button.
5. Wait while the System File Checker procedure completes the scan on your computer and automatically replaces any missing files.
