How to Change the Master Browser Settings
Internet Explorer
1. Launch Internet Explorer. (For all web browsers, changing the master settings requires the program to be open.)
2. Click on the 'Tools' menu located at the top of the Internet Explorer window. (The menus in Internet Explorer changed locations in version 8. Usually, these menus are listed at the top of the program window, but in version 8 you will find these on the right edge of the first toolbar beneath the URL address field.)
3. Select 'Internet Options' in the 'Tools' menu. A pop-up window will appear.
4. Select the tab at the top of the 'Internet Options' window that applies to the master settings you wish to change. For example, click 'Security'to change the overall master security settings applied for all the web pages you visit using Internet Explorer.
5. Press 'OK' when finished. The master settings have been applied for Internet Explorer.
Firefox
6. Open the program and click 'Tools' at the top of the Firefox window.
7. Select 'Options.' A pop-up window will appear.
8. Press a button at the top of the 'Options' window to change the master settings in Firefox for a particular feature. For example, choose 'General' to change how downloads are configured in Firefox.
9. HIt 'OK' when finished to complete your master changes to the browser settings.
Chrome
10. Open Chrome. Click the wrench icon to the right of the first toolbar. A menu will appear.
11. Choose 'Options' to open another pop-up window.
12. Select a tab appropriate for the master changes you wish to make to the browser settings. For example, choose 'Basics' to change the default home pages that Chrome automatically opens when the program is launched.
