The Windows Error Code 128

Compilation Error
A compiler issue in Microsoft Windows Server 2003 may result in an Error Code 128. This indicates that a program running under a user without administrator rights is trying to use Microsoft ASP.NET. When the program tries to access either 'vbc.exe' or 'csc.exe,' it will crash and display an Error 128 message.
Security Update
Installing Security Update 958690 on Windows Server 2003 or Windows XP 64-bit can cause an Error Code 128 message. Microsoft explains that the sub process that installs the update tries to access what's known as a desktop handle, which is set to null, causing the crash. Microsoft provides a hotfix download to overcome this problem.
Disk Management
In Windows 2000, running the Disk Management tool after adding an additional hard drive may cause an Error Code 128. A conflict in the Disk Management program causes this issue. Microsoft offers a downloadable hotfix for this conflict.
