Shell32.Dll Is Missing

Shell32.dll
The shell32.dll application contains the functions for Shell API (Application Programming Interface), a Windows-based process that opens and accesses Web pages and Internet files. The shell32.dll is an important component of the Windows operating system because it is a dynamic link library (.dll) file. These files work as regular programs, but take up less space and memory. Because they act like executable files, Windows requires all .dll processes to run correctly in order for the operating system to function. Therefore, users should not remove or disable the process or the Windows operating system will crash or stop operating altogether.
Missing Shell32.dll Error
Windows users will receive an error message if the shell32.dll is missing or if the computer is unable to access the file. The message may vary depending on the nature of the error or the version of Windows currently running. Often, computer users will receive the error “Shell32.dll not found” or “The file shell32.dll is missing.” If the user is attempting to open an application that requires the process, the user may see a message stating that the application cannot run because of an error in the shell32.dll file.
Fixing the Error
Before attempting to replace the file, users should try a complete system recovery. A recovery may reverse the process that damaged the file and stop the error from occurring. It's also possible for the shell32.dll file to inadvertently be sent to the recycle bin, so check the bin before attempting to replace the file. If the file is in the bin, simply restoring the application will cause the process to work properly again.
Other Options
If a system recovery does not work and the process is not in the bin, the file will have to be replaced. Start Windows in Safe Mode before attempting to replace the file. If you have the installation disk from your Windows operating system, you can replace the file easily. Locate the file on the disk and copy the missing process into the location C:\Windows\System32. If you do not have the disk, you can also download the file from a reputable site such as DLL-files.com, or contact Microsoft Support for the missing file.
