How to Look at Dll Files on Your Computer
Hex Edit Free
1. Select Window's 'Start' menu icon. Click the 'Programs' tab. Go down to the 'Utilities' folder and select it, then open 'HexEdit.'
2. Click 'File' and then 'Open' in the 'Hex Edit' program. Press the arrow next to 'File Types.' Select the 'Executable Files' option. Locate the Dll file on your computer's hard drive, highlight it and press the 'Open' button.
3. Look at the Dll file. On the right of the screen is information about the file, such as 'This Program Must Be Run Under Windows32.' Most of the information on the right is computer code; however, some English information is available. On the left of the Dll document are the hex numbers. This information is vital for the Dll to operate correctly.
Hex Editor Neo
4. Open the 'HHD Hex Editor Neo' folder from the 'Start' menu and then 'Program Files.' Select the application 'Hex Editor Neo.'
5. Click the 'Novice' radio button in the 'Choose Default User Interface Layout' box. Press 'Continue.'
6. Select the 'File Folder' icon in the quick launch bar. Highlight the Dll file to open. Click the 'Open' button.
7. View the Dll file. All hex editors are similar in style. On the right is mostly computer jargon with some information in English as well. On the left are the hex codes that can change Dll functions, if necessary.
