Belkin Wireless G USB Driver Won't Install
1. Insert the driver CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. Install the drivers when prompted by the pop-up interface menu. If this menu does not automatically appear, click the 'Computer' icon and then the CD-ROM icon. If the driver program does not boot, inspect the CD-ROM. Look for scratches or debris. Clean the CD-ROM gently with a soft dry towel and repeat this step.
2. Log onto Belkin's website (see Resources) if the CD-ROM is beyond repair. Use a separate computer if no ethernet or different Internet connection is available. Download the appropriate drivers; if you are on a different computer, download the drivers to a USB key. Install the drivers from the file or USB key by clicking the icon of the file and allowing the Belkin software to install itself.
3. Check the system requirements for the Belkin wireless G USB adapter (they are listed on both the CD and the website). Make sure the computer fulfills all of the system requirements for the Belkin device; if not, upgrade the computer to the minimum requirements and reattempt an installation.
4. Free up RAM (Random Access Memory) on the computer by closing all other applications and restarting the computer. The more programs running on the computer at once, the more RAM the computer will lose. Attempt to install drivers after the computer has been reset and the RAM cleared.
5. Bypass any firewall issues on the computer by booting up the computer in 'safe mode.' While on the startup screen press the 'F8' button. Allow the computer to boot fully and click 'Start' and then 'Control Panel.' Select the 'Add/Remove Programs' icon. Attempt to install the drivers using this screen.
