How Do I Copy Favorites to a New Computer?
1. On your old computer, click the \'Start\' button and select \'My Computer\' if you are using Windows XP. \'My Computer\' is simply called \'Computer\' in Vista and Windows 7. Connect your external hard drive or USB drive.
2. Click on the \'C:\' drive. If you are a Windows Vista or Windows 7 user, select \'Users\' and then locate the folder with your name or the computer owner's name on it. Open this folder. If you are using Windows XP, navigate to the following location: \'C:\\Documents and Settings\\
\\Favorites\\\'
3. Look for the \'Favorites\' folder. Once you open it, you should find several subfolders. Select all files by pressing \'Ctrl+A.\' Right-click and select \'Send to...\' and select the drive for your USB/external hard drive to transfer the files.
4. Follow Step 1 and Step 2 on your new computer. You may find some Internet shortcuts already stored in your Favorites folder. You can delete these files if you want.
5. Open the folder that represents your external hard drive or USB drive. The folder is located under \'Devices with Removable Storage\' in \'My Computer\' for XP users or \'Computer\' for Vista and 7 users.
6. Select all the files on your external drive by pressing \'Ctrl+A,\' and select \'Copy.\' Paste these files on the \'Favorites\' window that should be already open.
7. Launch your browser, and you should be able to see your favorite website shortcuts in your Favorites menu.
