Where Is the Windows Dll Cache Folder in XP Located?
Finding the Dll Cache Folder
Open the WINDOWS\System32 directory to allow you to view the Dll Cache folder. Because it is vital to the system, the folder is marked with system and hidden attributes. The folder will be hidden completely in the Windows Explorer interface.
Viewing Your Files
Go to My Computer. Click on the 'C:' drive and locate the Windows folder. Open the folder. Select the Windows/System 32 folder. After this folder is highlighted, go back to My Computer. Select the Access Tools tab and the Folder Options tab. Click on the 'Show hidden files and folders' option. Uncheck the 'Hide protected operating system files' option.
Protecting the Dll Files
Microsoft recommends you keeping these files hidden. The files function as the computer's central nervous system. Altering these files in any way can disable the computer permanently. You can allocate how much hard drive space the Dll folder uses. This action limits the amount of files the computer will be able to cache.
