What Is the Binkw32.dll File?
Identification
Binkw32.dll is a file that's automatically installed with the Bink codec. The Bink codec allows you to play compressed movies in DVD quality. The codec is designed to lower the memory strain placed on your computer to play video. It uses nearly 16 different compressions, 16 megabytes less memory than other codecs and can play videos in several different formats.
Function
The Bink codec cannot run without the Binkw32.dll. When you watch a video encoded with the Bink codec, the Binkw32.dll is primarily responsible for the codec's functionality. When you launch a compressed video, the Binkw32.dll runs automatically to improve display quality and playback speed.
Error
In some cases, a Binkw32.dll error message will appear on the screen when you try to play videos encoded with the Bink codec. This error message usually appears if the codec is missing, damaged or corrupt. If you're unable to play Bink videos, download the codec directly from the RAD Game Tools website.
Tips
Although Binkw32.dll is a safe process that poses no danger to your operating system, you can get rid of it by uninstalling the Bink video codec. If you don't play Bink encoded videos and have no use for the codec, uninstalling it won't affect your computer in any way.
