How to Turn Off System Restore in Safe Mode


Turn Off From Windows XP
1. Turn on or restart your computer and press 'F8' during startup. This must be performed prior to loading the operating system. Select 'Safe Mode' from the list of options by pressing 'Enter.' Allow Windows to load all system settings and proceed to Safe Mode.
2. Click 'Start,' Control Panel' and select 'System.' Click the 'System Restore' tab. Click the check box that states 'Turn off System Restore' to disable said option.
3. Click 'Yes' on the confirmation box when prompted. Please note all existing restore points will be disabled should you decide to turn off System Restore. Exit the window in question when finished making your desired system changes.
Turn Off From Windows Vista
4. Start up your PC and press 'F8.' Select 'Safe Mode' and allow Windows to launch.
5. Click the 'Start' menu and launch 'Control Panel.' Click 'System and Maintenance,' then 'System,' followed by 'System Protection' to the left. Allow Windows to load all available disk drives present.
6. Disable the check box next to the drive for which you wish to have System Restore disabled. Select 'Turn System Restore Off' and click 'OK' to exit out of the window in question.
Turn Off From Windows 7
7. Turn on your computer and press 'F8' to select the Safe Mode option as listed. Proceed into Windows once all system files are loaded.
8. Click 'Start' to access 'Control Panel.' Click 'System and Security,' followed by 'System.' Launch 'System and Protection' to the left of the screen in question.
9. Highlight the hard disk in question and click 'Configure.' Select the option stating 'Turn off System Protection' from the dialog box, then click 'OK' to finish making said modification in your system.
