How to Record More Than 60 Seconds on a Sound Recorder
1. Open Sound Recorder by opening the Start menu and then clicking 'Programs' or 'All Programs.' Choose 'Accessories' from the Programs menu and then click 'Sound Recorder' to open the Sound Recorder application.
2. Right-click on the speaker icon beside the clock on your task bar and click 'Recording Devices.' If you do not have 'Recording Devices' listed on your speaker icon's right-click menu, you can access the recording settings by opening the Control Panel, which is on the Start Menu. From the Control Panel, select 'Sound,' and then click the tab labeled 'Recording' at the top of the window.
3. Right-click on your microphone and click 'Disable.'
4. Click 'Record' in the Sound Recorder window and allow the program to record dead air. The program will stop recording once the 60-second mark is reached. Once it stops, click 'Record' again and allow the program to record dead air once again. Continue this process until you have the amount of time needed to record is displayed on the right side of the window.
5. Drag the slider back to the beginning of the recording bar in the Sound Recorder program.
6. Right-click on the speaker icon on your task bar again and select 'Recording Devices,' and then enable your microphone.
7. Click 'Record' in the Sound Recorder software to begin recording. When you are finished, click 'Stop' and click 'File,' followed by 'Save As' to save the file.
