How to Hook Up Internet to a Dell Laptop

1. Turn on your Dell laptop by pressing the power button located on the case.
2. Locate your modem and/or router in your household, or wherever you are attempting to connect to the Internet.
3. Connect your Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the side of your Dell laptop and the other end into the modem or router you're connecting to. The port is a small box input that is slightly larger than a phone cord input. If you desire a wired connection, then your setup is complete, and you can now connect to the Internet.
4. Turn on your wireless function on your laptop by pressing a button or moving a switch on the side of your Dell laptop case.
5. Move your cursor to the bottom right-hand corner of your screen and click on the icon that has two small monitors with a red X on it.
6. Choose the wireless connection closest to you, indicated by a full green bar graph.
7. Enter in a known password, if connecting to a private/secure connection that you have the password for. If you don't know the password, check out a different Internet source or ask the person who owns the connection for the password.
8. Open up Internet Explorer (or browser of your choice) to verify that the Internet is now connected.
