How to Fix Windows 7 GameGuard
Background
GameGuard is an anti-cheating program by nProtect that is installed on the user's computer when he installs online games such as Ragnarok Online and Phantasy Star Universe. This application runs simultaneously with the game software and searches for common cheating and hacking software that is against the rules of the game. When GameGuard detects such activity, it closes the illegal program and the game may log the user off.
Significance
Because GameGuard is crucial to the function of specific massively multi-player online games, an issue with the program will result in the game failing to load. The user will not be able to play his game of choice.
Solutions
According to nProtect, many GameGuard issues will be resolved when the user restarts her computer. The software manufacturer advises completely uninstalling and reinstalling the game to correct GameGuard problems. Finally, nProtect advises that users update their operating system (Windows) and download the newest version of DirectX and drivers for their graphics cards.
