How to Fix Errors in Firefox

1. Upgrade Firefox to the most recent version. Firefox is famous for the steady stream of improvements that prompt new and enhanced versions. Each version solves some of the bugs in previous installations. Upgrading is always the first and easiest course of action when attempting to fix any Firefox problem.
2. Disable a Firefox extension that is directly reporting an error. Firefox is an open-source program, and the extensions are available from anyone with a desire to program. Thus the quality and reliability of extensions vary. A poorly designed Firefox extension may slow down or stop the Firefox browser. If disabling the extension resolves the issue, consider uninstalling the extension altogether.
3. Install the ErrorHelp Firefox extension. This convenient extension aggregates the error experiences of Firefox users worldwide and offers solutions based on others' experiences). ErrorHelp works on any computer error, including those directly affecting Firefox. Instead of searching for answers, use ErrorHelp to diagnose and solve Firefox errors.
4. Visit the Mozillazine site which catalogs an extensive list of common Firefox errors and problems and offers solutions. Poor Firefox performance, bugs, malfunctions, interface customization problems, and other adverse effects from the program are documented with resolutions clearly explained.
5. Update or uninstall third-party plug-ins. Sometimes an external plug-in does not integrate properly with Firefox. Plug-ins such as Flash also experience problems which may seem like a Firefox issue. Keep all third-party plug-ins updated with recent versions if they are critically needed for your Firefox experience.
6. Uninstall Firefox completely, reboot, and re-install. When no other solution works, the best remedy is often to clean the slate and start over. Completely removing the program ensures that corrupted files and other software conflicts are, at least temporarily, removed. A full install after the uninstall gives the program a chance to operate as designed. Note that you may lose any customizations and extensions during this process.
