How to Enable Font Smoothing


Windows 2000 Font Smoothing
1. Right-click in an open area of the desktop and click 'Properties.'
2. Click the 'Effects' tab.
3. Place a check in the box labeled 'Smooth edges of screen fonts.'
4. Click 'OK.'
Windows XP Font Smoothing
5. Right-click in an open area of the desktop and click 'Properties.'
6. Click the 'Appearance' tab, then click the 'Effects' button.
7. Put a check in the box labeled 'Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts,' then use the drop-down menu to select 'Standard' or 'ClearType.'
8. Click 'OK' to close each open window.
Windows Vista Font Smoothing
9. Right-click in an open area of the desktop and click 'Personalize.'
10. Click the 'Window Color and Appearance' link at the top of the window.
11. Put a check in the box labeled 'Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts,' then use the drop-down menu to select 'Standard' or 'ClearType.'
12. Click 'OK' to close each open window.
Windows 7 Font Smoothing
13. Right-click in an open area of the desktop and click 'Personalize.'
14. Click the 'Display' link in the bottom left corner of the window.
15. Click 'Adjust ClearType Text.'
16. Put a check in the box labeled 'Turn on ClearType.'
17. Click 'OK' to confirm the change.
