2. Select “Enable IMAP” and save your changes.
3. Open Outlook. Select “Tools” > “Account Settings.” Select the “E-mail” tab and click “New.” Select “Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP or HTTP” and click “Next.”
4. Enable “Manually configure server settings” and click “Next.” Select “Internet E-mail” and click “Next.”
5. Enter your user information. Select “IMAP” as the account type. Set the “Incoming Mail Server” to “imap.gmail.com” and enter “smtp.gmail.com” as the “Outgoing Mail Server.” Enter your username (full email address) and password.
6. Select “More Settings.” Select the “Outgoing Server” tab. Enable “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication” and select the option to use the same settings as the incoming mail server.
7. Select the “Advanced” tab. Set the “Incoming Server (IMAP)” to “993” and select “SSL” as the encryption type. Set the “Outgoing Server (SMTP)” to “587” and select “TLS” as the encryption type.
8. Select “OK.” Select “Test Account Settings.” Outlook will test the new incoming and outgoing servers and display a “Congratulations!” window when it completes. Outlook is now properly configured to send mail through Gmail’s SMTP server.
