Errors With AIM Xprt6.dll

Error Messages
If the xprt6.dll file is damaged, corrupt or missing, you may see one of the following error messages appear on the screen when you try to launch AIM: 'Xprt6.dll Not Found,' 'This application failed to start because xprt6.dll was not found,' 'Re-installing the application may fix this problem' or 'The file xprt6.dll is missing.' AIM cannot function without the xprt6.dll file.
Causes
The xprt6.dll error messages usually occur if you've accidentally or intentionally deleted the file. The xprt6.dll error can also be associated with a registry problem, and malware such as viruses and Trojans can also damage or delete the file from the registry.
Reinstalling
Uninstalling and reinstalling a new copy of AIM is the safest way to solve xprt6.dll errors. Attempting to repair the file from the registry is extremely difficult and poses a great risk to your computer if you make a mistake. Before reinstalling the program, search for the xprt6.dll file using the search tool on the Start menu. If you locate the file, drag it into the AIM folder, located in the Program Files folder in Windows Explorer. If you can't find it, open the Control Panel from the Start menu, then click 'Programs and Features' to display installed programs. Click the version of AIM you're using, then click the 'Uninstall' button to remove the program safely. When the uninstall process completes, download and reinstall the latest version of AIM directly from the AOL website.
Tips
If your computer is behaving erratically, it's likely infected with malware, which can interfere with the xprt6.dll file required to launch AIM. In addition, malware may interfere with system components such as files and the registry, so removing malware safely is necessary to restore normal computer operations. If you're not advanced in computer troubleshooting, manually removing malware is extremely difficult, so run anti-virus and anti-spyware programs to delete dangerous files.
