Error Code 1603 Installing Microsoft Keyboard 4000
1. Click the 'Start' button in the bottom left corner of the screen. Type 'appwix.cpl' (without quotes) in the search box. A new window will appear.
2. Click on the 'appwiz.cpl' software listed under 'Programs' to highlight the software. Click 'Remove' to uninstall the software.
3. Restart your computer by pressing 'Start' and then 'Restart.' Microsoft recommends doing this every time after software is removed.
4. Download the keyboard software from Microsoft's website (see Resources). Once the download is complete, the file will be saved on your desktop.
5. Double-click on the software's icon. Click 'Run' when prompted. Once you do this, the 4000 keyboard should work. If you get another error code, uninstall and then reinstall the software.
