Corrupt Dll Files

Significance
Windows computers use Dynamic Link Library files to perform the basic, similar functions for a variety of programs. The result is a more flexible operating system that uses far less space and memory. Microsoft Windows may notify users when system files with the DLL extension become corrupted or deleted because it cannot perform basic functions.
Cause
When the user installs or uninstalls programs, this causes DLL files to be rewritten. Frequent installation can cause accidental damage to a DLL file. Viruses or other malicious software are another cause of corrupt DLLs. These infections may hide in legitimate Windows files, such as DLLs, to make it more difficult for the users or anti-virus software to locate them.
Solution
Windows tools such as Disk Check or the System File Checker tool can be used to locate and repair corrupt DLLs. Users who can isolate a corrupted DLL file can download a replacement from online DLL websites, other Windows users and, sometimes, from Microsoft. Users who have set restore points can first try to restore the computer to an earlier date to restore the corrupt DLL.
