1. Restart the HP computer. When the HP logo appears, immediately press the 'Esc' key to enter system setup.
2. Press the 'F11' key or the key labeled 'system recovery.' Wait for the HP Recovery Manager to start.
3. In the 'I need help immediately' section, expand the 'Minimized Image Recovery' drop-down menu. Press the 'Start' button.
4. Select the 'Back up your files first' radio button and click 'Next.' Select the files you wish to back up and click 'Next' again. Any files or personal documents not backed up will be deleted from the hard drive during the recovery process.
5. Follow the onscreen directions and wait for the recovery to finish. This may take some time. When the operating system is reset, you will be prompted to create a new account and go through the system's first-time setup.
