ScanSnap S1300 Vs. Neat


Size and Weight
The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300 measures 11.2 inches wide, 3.9 inches deep and 3 inches tall at its tallest point. It weighs 3.1 lb., without any paper and without its power adapter connected. Neat’s NeatReceipts scanner is slightly smaller than the ScanSnap S1300, measuring 10.8 inches wide, 1.6 inches deep and 1.3 inches tall at its tallest point. It weighs 0.7 lb. The NeatDesk is significantly deeper and taller than both the ScanSnap S1300 and the NeatReceipts, measuring 10.8 inches wide, 7.5 inches deep and 7.3 inches tall at its tallest point. It weighs 4.4 lb.
Features
The ScanSnap S1300 scans up to eight double-sided pages per minute. The NeatReceipts scans between three and four receipts per minute. The NeatDesk scanner is the quickest of the three devices, scanning up to 24 color pages per minute at a resolution of 300 dots per inch. All three devices scan at maximum resolutions of 600 dots per inch. The ScanSnap S1300 has a maximum scanning area of 8.5 by 14.17 inches, compared to 8.5 by 11 inches for the NeatDesk and 1 by 14 inches for the NeatReceipts.
Compatibility and System Requirements
All three scanners are compatible with PCs running Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. The ScanSnap S1300 is compatible with Macs running OS X 10.4 or later, while the NeatDesk is compatible with Macs running OS X 10.5.8 or later. The NeatReceipts is not compatible with Macintosh computers.In order to work with the ScanSnap S1300, Macs and Windows PCs require at least 1.8 GHz processors and 512MB of RAM. In order to work with the NeatDesk and NeatReceipts, Windows PCs require 1GB of RAM and at least a 1.3 GHz Pentium IV processor. Macs require any Intel processor and at least 1GB of RAM in order to work with the NeatDesk.
Additional Information
All three devices allow you to scan to a variety of file formats, including JPG, PDF, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. The ScanSnap S1300 and NeatDesk both come with external power adapters, while the NeatReceipts uses bus power provided by a computer’s USB port. All three scanners transfer data to computers via USB 2.0 cables.
