How to Share Operating System Folders in Windows XP
1. Log in to the computer with the username and password of a Windows XP account with Administrator permissions on the computer. Click the 'Start' button and click 'My Computer' in the menu that appears.
2. Double-click the drive 'C:' icon and right-click on the 'Windows' directory in the window that appears. Click 'Sharing and Security' in the menu that appears.
3. Click the 'Sharing' tab and click the 'Share this folder' radio button. Click the 'Permissions' button.
4. Click the 'Add' button and type the name of an account you wish to grant permissions into the 'Enter the object names to select' text box and click the 'Check Names' button. Repeat for each account or group to which you wish to grant access to the shared folder. Click 'OK.'
5. Click on an account you wish to grant access in the 'Group or user names' list. Click the check box next to each permission you wish to enable in the 'Allow' column of the 'Permissions' area. Click the check box next to each permission you wish to disable in the 'Deny' column of the 'Permissions' area. Repeat for each account you wish to grant access to the shared folder.
6. Click the 'Apply' button and click 'OK' to save the settings. Click 'Apply' in the 'Windows Properties' window, then click 'OK.'
