How to Remove an Unidentified Operating System on Windows XP

1. Click 'Start' and select 'Run.'
2. Type 'cmd' and press 'Enter.'
3. Type 'format x:' and press 'Enter,' replacing 'x' with the drive letter of the partition containing the unidentified operating system. Finding this letter is a process of exclusion--if you have a 'C' and 'D' drive on your computer, and Windows is installed to the 'C' drive, the unidentified system has to be installed to the 'D' drive.
4. Press 'Y' to confirm the format.
