How to Increase the Download Speed in BSNL Broadband

1. Speak to a BSNL representative and inquire about the current high-speed Internet connection packages being offered in your area. Tell the representative about your current package and ask if you can upgrade to a higher bandwidth for more or less the same price.
2. Use the 20 percent bandwidth that Windows XP reserves in its system. You will first have to maneuver around the system’s group policy editor:
Go to “Start” > “Run” and type “gpedit.msc” to open the group policy editor. When it opens, navigate to “Local Computer Policy” > “Computer Configuration” > “Administrative Templates” > “Network” > “QOS Packet Scheduler” > Limit Reservable Bandwidth.” Double-click on “Limit Reservable Bandwidth” and replace its value from 20 to 0.
3. Select third-party DNS servers, which, according to Indiabroadband.net, are significantly faster than BSNL’s DNS servers:
Go to “Start” > “Control Panel” > “Networking and Sharing Center.” Go to the “Local Area connection” and click the “Properties” tab. Under networking, click “TCP/IP.” In the DNS address fields, enter these two addresses:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Click “OK” and restart the Internet connection.
