How to Fix a DNS Error if You Cannot Find the Server When Trying to Connect to the Internet
1. Open the 'Start' menu, and click 'Control Panel.'menu
2. Type 'adapter' in the search box on the upper-right corner of the page.
3. Click 'View Network Connections' in the list of results.
4. Right-click your current connection, such as 'Wireless Network Connection' for wireless or 'Local Area Connection' for LAN connections.
5. Click 'Properties' on the drop-down menu.
6. Click the 'Networking' tab.
7. Select 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4),' and then click 'Properties.'
8. Select 'Use the following DNS server addresses' to open the DNS specification fields.
9. Type a primary and secondary DNS server into the respective fields. For example, Google offers free DNS servers at the IP addresses: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. A list of public DNS servers is available at techpp.com.
10. Click 'OK' to save your settings. Your connection will now route to the newly specified nameserver.
