How to Connect to WiFi at Starbucks for Free
1. You'll need to visit any Starbucks and get yourself a Starbucks gift card starting at $5.
2.
Register your card online at Starbucks.com and sign up for a Starbucks and AT&T account. You'll need to chose a username and password for each and enter the Starbucks card number found on the back of the card.
3. Visit any Starbucks with Wi-Fi. Virtually all of them have Wi-Fi service now, but you might want to check with your local store ahead of time just to be sure.
4.
Connect to the wireless access point.
5.
Open your favorite browser and enter your username and password on the start up page. Be sure to choose AT&T Wi-Fi from the drop down list.
6. Once confirmed you can browse the web for up to 2 hours.
7. Your account will stay active as long as you use your card at least once per month. This can be done either by making a purchase or re-loading your card with additional funds. You can also register up to three cards per Starbucks account. It's not technically 'free' since you'll have an initial outlay of $5 or more. However, if you're going to visit a Starbucks in the United States at least once per month, it's essentially no additional cost to get free Wi-Fi.
8. If you're an AT&T DSL customer, you don't even have to register a card. Starbucks also offers complimentary Wi-Fi access to all AT&T DSL subscribers.
